Reduce, Recycle, Reclaim & Re-use:

“I am constantly striving to make my practice as environmentally friendly as possible - leading a low impact life is something I’m passionate about.”

By creating jewellery using hand-crafted techniques and working on a small scale, Lucy is fully accountable for her production practices. By adopting the following measures Lucy is working towards being as environmentally sustainable and ethical as possible.

  • Metals can be reworked again and again, reducing pollution caused by mining processes. So wherever possible Lucy uses recycled gold and silver and although some pieces are not exclusively available in ‘eco-silver’, she uses all offcuts and melts them down to be made into more jewellery!

  • Lucy only uses suppliers that have full traceability back to their source and meet rigorous environmental standards that also protect the health and welfare of communities. Ethical, transparent production practices … not ‘fast fashion’.

  • It is always more sustainable to reuse than to buy new. Maybe you have sentimental or old-fashioned jewellery that you never wear? Lucy can re-work old jewellery into a beautiful contemporary design – create jewellery that you love to wear again and again.

  • Your jewellery will arrive in recycled, biodegradable packaging courtesy of the fantastic ‘Tiny Box Company’ – a sustainable, minimal waste company. Even the plastic bags that Lucy sends her collections out in to galleries are bags that she has collected and reused from other suppliers!

“Sustainable, eco-friendly jewellery is all about reducing and limiting impact on the natural world and making socially responsible choices…something I am aware of at every step of my production practices.”

When you purchase Lucy Thompson jewellery you are choosing a small-scale, independent jewellery designer….beautiful jewellery made to last.
